How do you get removed from the sex offenders registry?

We have a friend on the Registry in Indiana. It was a Sexual Battery 11 years ago. We were told he could come off that list but we do not know the process. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Some crimes never get off registry. Others it's ten years from the discharge (finishes prison, parole, probation).

If he is not required to register (and has properly been registring) he should get a notice telling him he doesn't have to anymore. He doesn't need to do anything affirmative.
