In 1994,my daughter was molester by man I had been in a serious relationship with at the time.My daughter was about 9 years old at the time, when she approached me about this, that this man had been touching her in private places. That next morning I threw him out and called the police. They immediately came and escorted my daughter and myself to the county court. After speaking with many detectives and the prosecutor, giving them picures of him and all info. that I had on him,by the way, I even took him for a lie detector test which he failed all the way the next day.The police brought my child and myself back home and told me that they would be in touch.Waiting so anxiously, finally they called and advised me that nothing could be done because my daughter said she was sleeping during tese episodes, which my daughter told me later that she was too embarrased to tell them she was awake and making believe she was sleeping,to deal with this animal. So there was not enough evidence to convict him as the prosecutor put it to me.Now my daughter is 16 and has had many problems in her life due to this so called man,she is also in therapy. Is there anything that I can do?Can I go after him for the mental abuse he has inflicted on the both of us?He was never convicted we are in NJ.Please help us.
