What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California

My mother recently died. She had no will. She told me that my sister and I would share the proceeds from the sale of the house.
Question: What can I do if the house was in mom's name (primary) and my sisters name (secondary)? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

How were your mother's and sister's names listed on the deed? It's possible that your sister now owns the entire property.

hommie,
How is your relationship with your sister? I would be real nice to her, if I were you.
