What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NY

How does one go about getting a child to change their address with the DMV so that they can be removed from your insurance policy? My step-daughter is 19 and moved out almost a year ago. She has no insurance on her car, didn't turn in her DMV plates until 6 months after her insurance lapsed and now has a suspended license and live 3 hours away in another county with her mother. Our insurance company will not drop her off our policy because we can not provide a copy of a rent agreement, lease, ultiity bill or proof of other insurance because her address on her license with the DMV is still our address. We are paying almost $700 a month for insurance because of her suspended license and her age.

1) Get a new insurance company
2) Have the insurance company specifically exclude her from your policy

On the other hand, congrats on raising such a productive member of society!

Call your insurance agent. You can remove somebody from your policy at any time, even if they're living with you (or that you can't conclusively show is living somewhere else).

PS - Posting is difficult today. I'm in one of those moods where nothing seems to be spelled correctly and words just look strange. Anybody else get that too?
