What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Florida
A 17 year old has an open civil case (battery on another 17 year old) and is on probation for illegal entry into a car in a public parking lot. His mother (custodial parent) picks up and moves with this 17 yr old to another state, causing him to miss his court date for the battery charge and breaking all the probation requirements (stay in high school, check in with probation officer, etc). The kid was snagged by the police in Maine and is now sitting in jail in Maine, awaiting extradition to Florida.
Question: How likely is it that Florida would want to pay to have this kid (he'll be 18 in February) extradited for these kinds of charges?
Question: Is his mother in contempt of court for aiding/coercing her son to move out of state with her, when she's fully aware of his legal problems in Florida and not having his probation transferred to Maine?
Thanks.
