A minor has been charged in the theft of our vehicle. (the vehicle has been recovered) The minor lives in our neighborhood.
He was caught and charged this past weekend. The minor had stolen our spare vehicle key and was taking the vehicle in the early morning hours to "joy ride", then would return it before daylight to avoid being caught. The key has been gone for approximately 2 months.
This is a lease vehicle and the mileage on the vehicle is 3,800 miles over what it should be. We knew the miles were accumulating but could not determine the reason.
What action can we take to ensure the youth is made liable for the overage in miles?
We live in SC.
Thank you
