What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Connecticut

My 15 year old son is accused of stealing a cell phone from a classmate.
A police report was filed and the police came to my house to see if my son would turn the phone over prior to any charges taking place.
I was told that if "some one" can identify my son as a caller, during the time the phone was stolen, he can be arrested for larceny.
Is this true?
Would it not also be true
That the "Someone" who might identify my son as a caller could be covering for the real thief.
Should I seek a lawyer??What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

Possible?? Yes.
True?? Not likely

Should I seek a lawyer??
You can if you want.... but why not just ask your little thief, er.... child to return the friggin' phone??

As for your question "Do I have something to worry about?"... yes. The blind 'We are entitled' sheep who have been bought and paid for with our tax dollars.... have just turned the USA into a socialist country!!!

Is it possible....Yes. Not a Lawyer, A Parent

If someone steals a cell phone, it can be grey listed and while the stolen cell phone is being used, can be tracked. If the cell phone has a GPS, it can be traced very well. Newer cell phones, depending on model, will have a GPS.

If your son really does not have the cell phone, it sounds he may know more information then he is telling you. Kids do that, so you may have to scare the heck out of him into telling you. Sorry, I am a parent and I know kids and they have no idea what they get themselves into until the police come a knockin. But, if he really has no knowledge and no cell phone and that phone is in fact grey listed, then that phone would be tracked to someone else if they had it on. There are other ways too, like if he used the camera that had a network service. The owner of that phone will be able to see those pictures on line, and what those pictures are as well.

So, do the parental drill and make sure your kid really does not have that phone, or knows some information about it. (They protect each other to death too, even when it makes no sense) Use the information above and tell your son how serious it is. If you are going to help him, you must make him be honest with you. Then comes the harder part.
