What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? MO
My dad passed away and left my sister and me an auto worth $30,000. There is a loan balance of 12,000. on it . I would like to buy the auto from the estate, how do we do this?

Your two contacts will be the personal representative for his estate and your state motor vehicles department. It shouldn't be a problem.

The car has a value of $18,000 for the estate. You get $9,000 (equity in the car) and your sister gets $9,000 (cash from you), and you pay off the loan and keep the car.
