What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New York

Hello, my wife's cousin was put away by his wife 9 years ago. This case is screaming out for justice. Long story short, he now has a chance to appeal. The facility that he's in will not allow large envelopes from family or friends. Only attorney or court mail is allowed. We need a way to get his large envelopes into and out of the facility (Attica). He needs the “trial minutes” to help further his cause. The state has not even assigned counsel to him. We are not rich. He has applied for poor persons status. They have not replied meaningfully at this time. They are denying his mail, therefore denying his access to justice. He needs his large mail and an attorney. Please help.

Pay for an attorney for him...

EDIT:
Alternatively, you could mail the documents 2 or 3 pages at a time.

He's appealing the conviction 9 years after the fact?

What was he convicted of?

If he doesn't have an attorney, how did he manage to get this appeal process started?

If the facility does not allow large mail packages, do as Zigner suggested and send him a lot of small mail.

Hi again and thanks for responding. He was engaged to be married. He and his fiancée had 2 children. She was a home health attendant. He knew the patient she was caring for and occasionally visited and stayed overnight. She was harassing him to hurry up and marry her. The last time he spent the night with her they had an argument and she accused him of rape. He’s never been in trouble before. He was arrested and assigned a public defender. This guy abandoned him. He would not pursue any of the many people who wanted to testify on behalf of my cousin in law. There was no rape kit taken. The lawyer was said to have even fallen asleep in court. He took money and jewelry from the family and then disappeared. We filed a complaint with the New York State Bar Association. My cousin in law has been railroaded. How many innocent people are rotting in the Bastille? He was denied the right to confront his accuser. He was denied his 6th and 8th amendment rights. He now has a chance, after all this time, for appeal. They are still trying to put roadblocks up. They won’t even allow the trial minutes because the envelope is too fat. They x-ray all incoming mail for contraband. The family is working, lower income. The system has failed us here. Is there justice for the poor? What country and year is this?
