What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California
I found a ticket my son (16) was given by a Police Officer for possession of cigarrettes. Shows that he is scheduled to show up in court. I believe it is his first offense because I am not aware of any other tickets. What type of fines are we looking at? If I don't pay, can they give him community service? He has denied consisitently in the past that he doesn't smoke so I don't want to bail him out.

Thanks!

wait around for a senior member named Carl. there's also another poster that specializes with juvenile crimes.

great parenting as far as not wanting to bail out son since he had been lying ot you all that time. even if fines are attached, at 16, he can work off his debt by getting a job. even babysitting.
