What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Michigan

In a previous post I mentioned that my cousin is dating a
17 year old from her school. I stated that the boys mother
was immensely upset about the situation, and she was
threatening to call the police. Well, today she DID call the
police. My cousin says she will stop dating him, if that is
what it takes to keep him from getting in trouble. But she
is very concerned that the boys mother will use this to get
him thrown into jail (which I am nearly positive she can not
do...) or in a mental hospital or something of that sort. My
cousin is extremely concerned about the boy and the way
his mother treats him. Is there anything his mother can do
to get him into trouble because of this?
