What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California

I'm here on behalf of a friend, she was fired from her job recently due to the fact she worked in a medical facility and reviewed her own medical file. Is that legal?

I always thought there was the "You have every right to review your medical file" rule. However I could be mistaken, with the holidays coming up, and the only person in the house working its making the holidays rough, and the house is feeling it.

Any suggestions?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with looking at your own medical file.

HOWEVER the problems may have arisen in how you got that file.

Tell us about this.

She should not have accessed her file herself. She should have requested it through normal channels as any other patient would.
