What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? fl

is it legal for an employer to fire someone for hanging out with a co-worker after work hours, off the clock because the employee doesnt want one of the coworkers to be a bad influence to another.

generally speaking; yes

in most states, an employer does not need any reason to fire and as such, as long as it is not for a protected class of persons (age, race, etc.), it is legal.

In Michigan, an employer fired anybody that smoked, even after hours only and the courts have upheld his right to do so.

I agree.

It is legal to fire you for associating with a coworker for the simple reason that there isn't a law saying they can not.
