Parking ticket

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA
I recieved a ticket for overtime parking. This is a recent thing and none of the residents were notified about the change. I didn't pay the ticket, I called to fight it and they refuse to do anything, how do I clear this up since it is not my fault. Other residents called the police station and they took care of it, but the police refuse to help me because it's past due, I think. I'm selling the car next week. What is my best option?

Pay the ticket and any associated late fees.

I'm sure you've heard ignorance of the law is no excuse. Sorry, but residents are supposed to keep up with and observe laws or ordinances for their city.
