What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Indiana
I was extended an offer of employment with a Fortune 500 company and accepted. My start date was scheduled for Jan 19 but 5 days beforehand I was contacted and informed that they were moving my start date to 1 year later due to the poor economy. I had moved and made other finical commitments as a result of this employment offer. Do I have a legal recourse to collect some kind of damages as a result of the delay of my start date?

Possibly. Worth having a lawyer take a look.
