What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
we live in indiana, my husbands father lived in mt. sterling,ky.
we were told that there was no will, but when we went down there for the funeral and asked about a will, an ex-step daughter produced a will that was done at home, no lawyer, my father-in-law was divorced at the time, he had 2 living blood sons, but everything was left to the ex-step-daughter, we don't have the money to hire a lawyer, what can we do?What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

The KY requirements for a vaild will:
394.040 Requisites of a valid will.
No will is valid unless it is in writing with the name of the testator subscribed thereto by himself, or by some other person in his presence and by his direction. If the will is not wholly written by the testator, the subscription shall be made or the will acknowledged by him in the presence of at least two (2) credible witnesses, who shall subscribe the will with their names in the presence of the testator, and in the presence of each other.
