who pays the bills

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New york...my mom is dieing and the contents of her will is unknown. We are fairly certin the bulk of any estate would transfer to her live in S.O. My question is who is responsible for the considerable debt,,mortgage car payment and credit cards thanks for the help you can email me @[email protected] thanks

Her estate will be responsible for paying her creditors.
