What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New York

My roomate has been surfing the web about growing narcotcs, so much that im paranoid living here. Now since he will never do such a thing, wil not have any evidence of any narcotic related parafanila, worst case scenerio can law enforcement pick up on a random internet suffer who researches and talks about drgs in forums and bust him?

They need probable casue in order to conduct a search warrant right? as if he literally says he will do a incriminating act...

It's not illegal to talk about drugs. If he's simply surfing the net/doing research on drugs and growing techniques, it's not likely he is going to draw anyone's attention.
Even posting on a message board isn't going to get your door kicked in, as we all have freedom of speech, regardless of what subject we speak about.

Where he might draw attention is if he were to actually purchase drug manufacturing/growing supplies. Some of the companies who advertise these sort of products in places like High Times magazine, are actually sites operated by law enforcement agencies such as the DEA.
So if he were to purchase the equipment that would enable him to manufacture/grow illegal drugs, then he might get himself listed on one of law enforcements maps.

However, even if he bought the equipment, the police would still try to verify whether he is using the products for illegal purposes or not. This is where they might place him under surveillance and possibly monitor his on line activities.

But if he's not actually manufacturing/growing an illegal substance, I don't see what it is you have to be paranoid about?

Even if the police secured a warrant to search your home, they would come away empty handed right?
