PA probate code only states:
§ 3537. Compensation.
The court shall allow such compensation to the personal representative as shall in the circumstances be reasonable and just, and may calculate such compensation on a graduated percentage.
The PA Supreme Court has stated that 3% would be considered "
prima facie fair and reasonable." However, the amount of compensation remains within the Orphans' Court's discretion. For a small estate, say with a value of less than $100K, 4% or 5% might be considered reasonable. Over $1 million, 2% might be considered reasonable.
You can ask the clerks at the Orphans' Court whether they use some informal guidelines regarding reasonability.
