I am a tatoo artist in the state of Mi working at a parlor for a % of the take. I do not receive a paycheck. Just a 1099. I had to sign a 5 year non-compete for a 60 mi radius to work there. Is the non-compete legal?

Touchy, because of what you do -- artist. However, I would think that 5 years is a tad excessive. You should consult a labor & employment attorney.
