Hi, I was convicted of shoplifting in NJ 2C:20-11B (1) 4 years ago when I was 18 and I did community service and paid a bunch of fines. I have a job offer in NYC at a non profit and I have to get fingerprinted and they will perform a background check, probably.

Will this misdeamanor in NJ show up in their background check?

Can my employer legally take away my job offer because of this misdemeanor?

Thanks, any information would be helpful.
