What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Illinois

2 juvenile family members were arrested for shoplifting. Can the police interrogate them without a parent or guardian present?

Thanks

Generally, parental approval is not required for the police to interview a child outside the parent's presence. There are, I believe, two or three states that do have a parental notification law, but I do not believe IL is one of them.

If he is being charged with a crime, hire him an attorney.
