A friend of mine when i was in the county jail has been refused her medication. She was on paxil a medication that can cause death if not given not because it is like blood pressure meds or diabetes but because without it one can become suicidal or homicidal. She had thrown a cup of water at the nurse in the jail and now is being denied all medical treatment. is this legal?

First of all, this girl's lawyer should be attending to this immediately!!! And the doctor who prescribed the paxil. Paxil is an antidepressant which clears the system very rapidly and the doses must be maintained consistently. If you stop Paxil, the doses must be stopped gradually. This girl will feel extremely ill, if the Paxil is stopped.
There is a big controversy now about anti-depressants....they are extremely helpful but are very hard to discontinue. People get very dizzy, nauseated, sweaty, etc, etc when the meds are just stopped.
