What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Washington state

The owner of the home was served a complaint/summons from a collection agency. He does not reside at this address and has been working overseas. I do not know how to contact him and don't know what to do. If he was not personally served is this complaint/summons still valid? It appears important and I am trying to help the owner, what should I do?

Fax and/or mail the paperwork to him. Beyond that you would need to pass the bar exam really quickly.

But doesn't a person need to be served personally?
You say you want to help him...do what I said.

If he never sees the paperwork, the other party will likely get a default judgment against the landowner. Don't play legal games...
