What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? IL

My husband inherated $35,000 whole he was deployed to Iraq in 2007... His father had his POA at the time, and put the money in a CD in his own (the fathers) SSN... now he is sick, and in the VA, his wife who is not my husbands mother, has decided that shes keeping the money... does this large of an amout qualufy for small claims???

Not even close. Your hubby will have to seek relief in a higher court. The Illinois small claims limit is $10,000.
