My friend works in a resturant. He was told if he ever needs to call out make sure it's at least two hours be for the shift. Well, he was to work Saturday night but found out his grandmother (who he is very close to) was rushed to the hopital. So he called out so he could go see her. She lives in TJ. The manager said fine. He went in the next day they told him to go be with his grandmother they had already gotten his shift covered, so he went. He went back the next day they told him that he could not come back to work till he brought a note that says he was there. So he brung in the papers in on Thurs. They told him it was fake and to come back Mon. and maybe they will talk. Can he do something.

About all he can do is to voice a complaint over this treatment to his superiours. More likely than not he is an at-will employee, so he can be terminated at any time, with or without a reason. Thus, even if the company admits that they did wrong by him recently, it may not amount to a hill of beans as they could legally turn around and can him. See?
