I am a bartender and I have a question about the tax laws in Michigan concerning my pay. I recently started at a new job and the employer claims our tips for us, and taxes our tips out of our hourly rate of pay, so that our checks end up being anywhere from $0.00-$5.00. My last check was for $0.00. Can they legally do this? Also, the last place I worked for I was there for 2.5 years, they were taking money out of our checks on a daily basis for food whether we ate or not, and never had our permission to do so, is there any reprucussions that can be taken for that?
