car owner and unathorized use of car

Need advice on the laws in Texas, ok my brother in law used my car which is in my name and insurance is in my name and he struck a child with the car by accident the child went to the hospital and he went to jail ok will i be liable for anything if he used the car ?

Does he live with you? How did he get the keys? Did you report the car stolen?

Is the vehicle that hit the child insured? and is the brother inlaw so rich that the child's legal gaurdians and the hospital would want to bypass the insurance carier and just go after your brother in law?
