Drunk in public?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? VA

I was at a football game for my college and I was escorted out of the game for being drunk in public. An events person from the game wrote down my name and address but the police officer never wrote anything down. I never had to sign any papers. They found my girlfriend and let me leave with her without ever going to jail.

Do they send drunk in public tickets through the mail or did I get lucky?

Yea they send those kinda tickets through the mail i just received a ticket for drinking in my own house! mind you i am only 20 but still this was about 2 weeks after the fact that i received the ticket so just hope for the best and expect the worse

I have absolutely no studies in law at all and am merley a member of society but this is my situation i am speaking from hope i could have been of some assistance
