What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Colorado

My first question: is a person, less than 21 years of age but older than 18, allowed to posses a handgun and ammunition in the state of Colorado? If this is true, does that include an unloaded handgun with ammunition in a case, in a vehicle?

Follow-up question: if that person is under 21 but older than 18, how are they legally allowed to purchase that handgun? If they cannot purchase it from a licensed gun dealer who sells to 21+, is there an official "gifting" process that allows such?

TIA,
Taylor

Private sales/transfers between individuals in Colorado are legal and no paperwork is required. There is no need to involve a dealer. Registration of firearms is specifically prohibited in Colorado. It is legal for an 18 year old to possess a handgun as long as they are not otherwise disqualified.

Anybody who can legally possess a handgun can carry that gun loaded on their person in a car without a permit. Unloaded and in a locked case is fine to.

Open carry without a permit by an 18 year old is technically legal but may attract attention and it's generally not recommended.
