What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Kentucky

Hello,

I have made a few posts here in the past and received a tremendous amount of help. I am now in an issue which holds a lot of weight on my future. My ex-fiance of two years is trying to make criminal charges against me. I'll start from the very beginning...

Around three or so months ago, I allowed my now ex-fiance to drive my 2000 Volkswagen Beetle because it was the same car I taught her to drive in. The girl has only had her license for 4 months after losing her permit due to public intoxication a long time ago. I attempted to split-up with her and leave the relationship. This was a self-destructive relationship built on manipulation, sympathy and has left my mind in a depressed state. I knew I had to get out and I am doing much better now on my own. I was even told a suicide note had been written and my missing box cutter was somewhere hid where only she knew.

First, she convinced my entire family and friends I had went missing and wanted to commit suicide. All the while my cell phone was dead at work (I had previously forgotten it Friday and it was now the weekend) and no one had a way to contact me. We had been arguing and she was trying to plea for me to stay but I left and found a hotel to hold out in. My ex-fiance eventually convinces everyone to actually visit my workplace (I was not there and still in the hotel (not even 24 hours had passed, I simply had not come home for the night and was clearing my head) and upon suspicions my ex-fiance tried to find the address of a female she accused me of wanting to leave her for. My managers and co-workers all look at me differently now, the girl was running and screaming down the parking lot with her hands flailing about. In fact, during my 30 minute lunch break I returned to the old apartment (now living with my amazing father) to discuss a few matters. We run in circles and argue about pointless things more until 11:54 or so, instead of letting me leave she decides to barricade the door and use her body as a human shield. The deadbolt is locked and she's attempting to provoke me. I ask her to move and eventually just push her out of the way (ripping my shirt in the process, ha) and run outside to my Saturn but she follows and jumps in the passenger seat. I am forced to run back to work in cold air, panting and late. Later on, I come with my friend Matt to box up my stuff and get the hell out of dodge, she starts panicking and screaming at me while I cut some tape binding cardboard boxes from work together, nervous wreck I am, slip and my Swiss army knife leaves a two inch long cut nearly severing a tendon. I drive to the E.R. with a blood-soaked hand towel resting on my steering wheel. Luckily, the good motorist of Kentucky flashed their lights and made my trip by myself a lot easier, allowing me to get through traffic quickly. Anyway, this is only the beginning...

Now the reason I was there in the first place was to discuss civilly how I owned both vehicles; 99 Saturn and 2000 Beetle. Both registered to myself and insured solely by me. So this game of cat and mouse begins, she won't give me the keys to the Beetle and will not ACCEPT the Saturn as a free gift from me. I did not want to leave her without the vehicle. I'm not that kind of person. I run out of options and can't allow her to drive a vehicle insured and owned by me illegally, I stress the importance and still she does not comply. I have an officer of our police department escort me in retrieving the vehicle and she hands over everything. I decide to leave the Saturn so she'll have something to drive (assuming we're going to get the title switched and notarized accordingly) to get from work and school. So, back before she started driving the Beetle and getting her license, she had to take me back and forth to work. I eventually purchased an automobile ($1500 for the Saturn) from an auction with money she gifted to me. I never made any promises to pay it back as I am not in school and do not receive any government funding. She claims the check was for $2600 and I still have the auction papers which state the actual value paid was $1500.

I'm trying to understand how she even has a case against which would merit criminal charges. She assumes the Beetle belongs to her when I have owned it for 5 years now. I never made any promises to give the Beetle to her until all of this started and my belongings in the apartment where kept as ransom. I even had to leave my kitten behind that she hates. I'm probably going to visit a psychiatrist soon as this has left me in an emotional wreck. Everyone believes I am something I'm not and has been twisted to make me look like I left her for some girl. She even called our Landlord and fed him a line about all of this but he stopped her saying, "I don't need to know any personal details." When I brought a cop with me to her workplace (Fazoli's), I had him wait outside as I knew everyone there being her co-workers would have animosity toward me and if it was a trap, I'd just step out and have the cop take care of everything. You see, she changed her mind about the Saturn and told me to come her workplace for the key back. When I enter the restaurant, a manager approaches me and says let's step outside and talk privately. I started to get nervous but proceeded anyway. The keys were in his fist and he spoke with anger, pointing to the Beetle I had arrived in, claiming it belonged to her and I would be summoned to court. I've even received text messages and so on. Not that I really care about what people think of me, more so, I care about her getting what she deserves after I tried to be understanding and even give her a vehicle, I left behind $600 (Whirlpool washer and dryer so she could have clean clothes) and some furniture of mine as well as dishes, even necessities like a coffee pot and trash can, etc. I could even go further and retaliate since I have a scanned copy of a check she forged my name on for this month's rent for $250.

Sorry for the really, really, really long story but I thought it would be best to cover all the details. I am in need of reassurance and guidance from someone wise and versed in these sort of issues. Thank you for reading about my ordeal. I simply want to know what to prepare for next...

To summarize; I have been made to look like something I am not, and may be sued over a check for $2600 that might be a gift? I believe it was cash, however. I can't remember back that far but in the past she has done the same thing with her money from school in the past while together. Everything seems so inconsistent. What is consistent is it was used for many things like paying rent in advance, typical bills and groceries. I have attempted to be fair but she won't accept or negotiate a single thing.
