What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? North Carolina

A couple of weeks ago I was in a fender bender while driving a U-Haul. I bumped into a guys van causing minor damage to the rear bumper and tail light no police were called and we decided to handle it out of pocket. The next day I recieved a e-mail with an estimate for $1300+ dollars attached after looking through it I found that he was trying to charge me for breaking his motor mounts, which is impossible to do by bumping the rear of the car. Anyway my question is what is his legal recourse to get me to pay these obviously bogus charges. Thanks in advance for any information.
