What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? wisconsin/we own land(40 acres) with 2 siblings. we own 50%, a brother & wife own 1/3 and a sister owns 1/6 as joint tenants. Brother & wife have not paid their tax share for 3 years. My husband & I have paid their share. Have we any recourse? What is the right way to handle this?

Speak to a real estate atty about partition , meaning asking the court to order the property to be sold, very expensive, other way is to keep paying the other persons share and while keeping all your reciepts and when the time comes to sell collect it then, or sue them for the money and when the time comes to sell enforce collection of the judgement you hold. Either way keep all your reciepts and in fact when you write the check maybe it wouldnt hurt to write out two, one for your share and one for the non payers share. It might help with having separate records. ??? ( do all parties get a tax statement copy sent to them for billing from the county)
