wrongful termination

i was a special education teacher in cleveland public school district in Clev. Ohio. My father became terminally ill and I had to take some time off to take care of him. I called in the absence and received a job number as was required. I was later notified that my position was terminated due to job abandonment. I received no hearing and this is against union policy. Do I have a wrongful termination suit?
