My mother-in-law died almost 9 years ago. My husband is executor of the will, but never did anything about it. Now her husband is dying and we need to know if there is a time frame in which you have to probate a will. We need to know what he can legally do at this point. There isn't much to settle, but need to do what we can at this point.

The time limit for submitting a will for probate in Texas is 4 years.

I'd suggest conferring with a probate attorney. It is possible that a small estate affidavit or a muniment of title can take care of this.
