My understanding it that it would still be prohibited. While they are not considered firearms under the National Firearms Act, they are considered firearms (and therefore prohibited to felons) under Title 18 of the US Criminal Code.

Well I stand corrected then. This came up a few weeks ago on a gun forum that usually gets the right answer but not this time. Thank you for the link.
