What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Michigan

Hi,
We purchased a Mobile Home in 2003, the mortgage was to be reported to the credit bureaus and they have not done so...is this a breach of contract? I have been looking into Promissory Estople and wondering if this would apply in this case.
We have oral and written documentation that this was to go on our credit.
This has caused us to have none to little credit rating and has caused us to not be able to make auto purchases and refinance the home to a lower interest rate (we have a 9% rate with them).
What advice could anyone give us....we are at wits ends with this.

Thank you,
Sherry
P.S. At one point we were going to walk away from the home, they told us they "Would report that as default on the loan"

I recall a long time ago a article how some lenders did not report anything to any of the credit agencys on purpose , the logic behind it was that a consumer might refi with someone else at a lower rate then the original lender would lose all the money they were to make from interest& force the customer to stay with them. At this point in the economy its really hard to say if you could more easily gain a new loan at a lower rate to pay off the old. Your only option may be to continue to pay the loan as agreed till your done with it while you contact one of the reporting agencys and ask them if there is any thing you can do to get your current history into the system. ( while you keep all payments on time , eventually someone may be willing to refi you after more equity is built up ) How many installments is the contract ? (BTW if this home was bought on a contract for deed, just stick it out and keep copies of all your canceled checks until its paid)

I think because it is a mobile home (personal property) it would not be reported as a mortgage. At least in Maryland they don't consider a mobile home as real estate. Even when it is attached to the land, they still consider it a manufactured home, and the loan rules are different. Many home mortgage companies won't even lend on them at all.
So see if the credit bureau shows the loan as something other than a mortgage.
