Austin Hot Springs outside of Portland Oregon is located in a public waterway. Access to the springs is denied because one must cross private land to reach it. The springs have been used by humans for thousands of years. Is there a easement that could be created for the public to used this resource. Any suggestions would be appreciated by thousands of people.

some of the more exp members may have more info. I would say besides the town/county/etc doing something such as emiate domain or such to force the landowner(s) to alow access to the springs, not much. (sorry bout spelling it was not my strong point in school)

why should a person that spent thousands of dollars to purchase the land simply allow trespassers in? The landowner, in part, claims it is to prevent lawsuits as people can easily get burned with the high temp of the water and the landowner not making an attempt to prevent use could cause them liability. I don't blame him.


there is currently a group trying to buy Austin Hot Springs so donate to them and maybe you will once again be allowed to cook like a lobster in the 185º water.

these guys say there has been a purchase agreement made. They just need your money.
