Utility, Provisional, Design! What are the differences? Is there a good book for a younger person to help explain the Patent process and difference? This is for a school project of a 8th grader. Many thanks for any and all help.

Patents

I would suggest you start out at the FreeAdvice explanations of Patent Law. That will give you a good general idea of the law. It may be all you need. Here is the link to all the material on patents: https://law.freeadvice.com/intellectual_property/patent_law/.

Here is a link to the definitions of “Utility” and “Design” patents:
https://law.freeadvice.com/intellectual_property/patent_law/patentable_inventions.htm

If you want more info, here is a link to the US Patent & Trademark Office. They have a lot of info there: http://www.uspto.gov/.

Good luck with the project.
