I recently took over management of a small resort in Florida after the previous manager retired. This is my first management position. I inherited a staff of 3 who have treated me with hostility from day one. After 2 months, it has not improved and has created a very unpleasant work environment, felt by all - including customers. Can I legally "clean house" and hire a new staff?

If Florida has an at-will employment policy then I would say that you can "clean house". However, I would strongly urge you to consult with a local labor law attorney on this. Note that attorneys who regularly advise/represent employers are usually called labor law attorneys. Whereas attorneys who represent the employees are known as employment law attorneys. A semantic difference intended to distinguish the two types of attorneys. Your company will of course pick up the tab. You should be able to find one through https://attorneypages.com

Or, try retaining one at a lower cost via a legal insurance plan. For more information on these go to https://law.freeadvice.com/resources/legalplans/index.htm
