The statute of limitations applies to the time between when the crime was committed and prosecution begins. The time he is a fugitive DOES not have any limitation.

Think "Roman Polanski"

He has been wanted since the late '70's since he fled the country after pleading guilty to a crime. He was finally re-arrested late last year. So we have what, nearly 30 years?

Once you are convicted of a crime, there is no statute of limitations. There is a warrant issued for your arrest and it remains active until you are captured or the issuing court rescinds the order for some reason.

Agreed.

The law does not give out prizes for avoiding the law.

in fact, the only thing you did was make the judge less likely to grant anyone anytime to take care of personal business before being remanded for imprisonment.

Basically, you killed it for everyone else.
