A will that I am a beneficiary of has recently been concluded. There is strong reason to believe that the lawyer handling the will plans to abscond with the entirety of the will. The will only totals 600k. It is to be distributed to 10 beneficiaries. The questions are thus- Are there safe guards in the legal system to prevent a lawyer from doing so. If the lawyer absconds with the funds, what would then be the recourse?

The lawyer handling the will was disbarred in the late 50's and regained his license in the 70's. The lawyer in question is elderly and financially insecure, widowed. The house he owns in LA county is under water. The lawyer handling the case hired a lawyer to assist him in the conduction of the will. There is no reason to believe that the other lawyer is in any way dishonest or has criminal intentions.. I am left to believe that there is little that can be done. Any information on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
