I have been employed by my company for 2 1/2 years. They have just asked me to sign a newly created Confidentiality Agreement which includes a 6 month non compete clause which states that I agree not to compete with the Company by working for a current customer of direct competitor of the company. I have asked to have this clause removed and they will not remove it however they said that I can re-write it and remove direct competitors. Do I have to sign this form? Can they fire me if I choose not too? Can I include a request for 6 months severence for the non compete?
