What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Mississippi

Hello,

My mother recently passed and her deceased husbands niece had POA while she was alive.....The niece says that there was a will but she does not know where it is and she will not disclose any information to us with regards to my mothers bank accounts, life insurance, etc.
As the children of the deceased what rights do we have and how can we freeze my mothers assets until the will is found.

Also, if it is discovered that the niece was taking money from the estate after her death can it be recovered or is it just gone?

Thanks for any info you can provide.
