I know of someone who works at a "medical spa" where a medical assistant is doing a job of the physician, which entails laser treatments to be administered to patients, facials, chemical peels, injectables, and microdermabrasions. My question is (1) is this legal? and (2) if it is illegal, how can this person leave without being sued or fined? (3) how can this be approached to management considering that management knew of the illegal duties when in fact, the medical assistant just discovered she may be performing illegal duties?
