What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Wisconsin

Is it legal for a dealership to sell you a used car without disclosing that the window tint is darker than state law allows? The Wisconsin Buyers Guide (MW2872 7/2002) had the boxed "legal" checked off in the area that addresses "windshield, windows, and mirrors." My son was informed by a state trooper today that the tint is NOT legal and received a ticket. We are wondering if the dealership had any legal responsiblity to disclose this, and if they have any legal responsibility to remove the tint and make the car compliant with state law. Thank you for your assistance.
