i own small electrical company in colorado. my son works for me. it's my understanding that family or immediate family is not required to carry workers compensation insurance, is this correct? also, does the sole proprietor have to carry it? to my understanding i would be required to pay work comp ins. to an individual who is not a part of my family or immediate family. i've heard it different ways and need to know if you have any insight in this for the state of colorado. also, if the family member signs a legal agreement that they do not want workers comp ins. does that suffice? thank you.
