What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
I have a friend in jail accused of a crime. He had court today and his lawyer didn't come. Can he fire the lawyer and ask for his money back so he can hire a new one?

He can hire a new one. AND he can ask for his money back from his original lawyer, but there's no garuantee he'll get all of that money back.

Is he still in jail? What was the court appearance for? What crime, just curious?
