What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
Located in Texas.
My friend's husband took his life last nite. His mother wants to go to the bank and have his account frozen. My friend & her husband had separate accounts and they were each others' beneficiary. His mother has no rights to be able to freeze his account, correct?

if they were TOD (transfer on death) accounts and the wife was the bene, the money becomes hers immediately. She should contact the bank asap to determine the status of the account.

sounds like mom might want to run the show. I would think the wife needs to look into probate of the estate pretty quick to keep mom at bay.
