What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Illinois

A week ago, I was travelling on a small rual road at night, I ran a stop sign and caused an accident, the stop sign was entirely blocked by a tree branch, and was impossible for me to see. Do I have any legal rights on this?

Thank you.

That might work to get your citation (assuming one was issued) reduced or dismissed, although when it comes to covering damages to either vehicle, you will likely be found at fault.

Good luck.
